Texas Longhorns (7-0)

The top ranked Texas Longhorns did not have a let down yesterday when they beat Missouri 56-35. The week before the Longhorns earned the number one spot in the country by beating Okalahoma 45-35. Quarterback Colt McCoy put himself at the top of the list the Heisman Trophy hopefuls after completing 29 of 32 passes for 337 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran the ball for two more touchdowns. The Longhorns jumped out to a 35-0 lead in the first half. The defense held The Tigers to just 30 yards on the ground. The Longhorns have the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys on deck next week. The Longhorns offense looks to be unstoppable to this point. If Texas can avoid a let down in conference play, they should end in Miami to play for the national championship.

Baylor Bears (3-4)

The Bears are a much-improved team this season under the direction if first year head coach Art Briles. The Bears have a ways to go before they can beat a ranked team on the road. The Bears are coming off a 34-6 loss to the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys. In the loss freshman sensation Robert Griffin set a division 1-A record for the most throws, 155, without throwing an interception to start his career. The Bears will need to get their running game going so that Griffin can have room to operate. The Bears have the disappointing Nebraska Cornhuskers on deck for the Baylor Bears. They have three ranked opponents left on the schedule and will need to pull an upset or two if they are to play in a bowl game this season.

Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-0)

After the Cowboys 28-23 upset of the Missouri Tigers, many expected the Cowboys to have some sort of let down before taking on the top rated Texas Longhorns. That did not happen. On the contrary, The Cowboys came to play and soundly beat the Baylor Bears 34-8. Wide receiver Dez Bryant was the star of the game. Bryant snatched 11 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns. The defense line really stepped up and kept the explosive Griffin in check. The defense will need to play even better if they have any plans of containing heisman candidate Colt McCoy. The Cowboys have played beyond the expectations of everyone to this point in the season. A win over Texas next week would be huge.

Oklahoma Sooners (6-1)

The Sooners came out after losing 45-35 to Texas last week and played a solid football game against a good Kansas football team. The Sooners beat the Jayhawks by the score of 45-31. Quarterback Sam Bradford asset a team record for 468 passing yards and throw for three touchdowns. The Sooners defense once again looked vulnerable, as the Jay Hawks were able to move the ball. The Sooner defense took a hit when they lost Middle Linebacker Ryan Reynolds to a knee injury. The only way that the Sooners can play in the conference championship game is to have Texas lose twice before the end of the season. The Sooners are still one of the best teams in the country and should end up in a BCS bowl if they continue to put points on the board. Texas tech and in state rival Oklahoma State remain on the schedule.

Texas Tech Red Raiders (7-0)

The Red Raiders are perfect on the season but know will have to face the best teams in the conference. Texas Tech is coming off a 43-25 thrashing of Texas A&M. Quarterback Graham Harrell continues to put up unbelievable numbers. He completed 44 of 56 passes for three touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns as well. The Red Raiders have an improved defense this season but has to be tested. The next few weeks will tell how much the defense has improved with Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas still on the calendar.

Texas A&M Aggies (2-4)

The Aggies are having a tough time this season adapting to the new schemes of Head Coach Mike Sherman. The Aggies inability to stop their opponents from running for 223 yards a game is a huge problem. The Aggies are young and are gaing plenty of experience by being thrown into the fire early. A bright spot for the Aggies has been the emergence of quarterback Jerrod Johnson. He set a school record for 487 yards of total offense and passed for 400 yards in a losing effort to Kansas State. With Iowa State, Colorado and Baylor still on the schedule, the possibility to win a few more games is possible.
