CFL WEEK 10 Notes:
FRIDAY
BC @ MONT –4.5 / 58.5: BC coming off a home loss to a division rival loses its
starting QB after the offense had improved for three straight weeks. What is
concerning is the defense for the 4 straight week the defense has dropped in
efficiency & according to YPPT stats is the weakest defense in the league. This
week they face the best offense in the league in both YPPT and overall scoring.
Last week CGY kicked 5 field goals in the game vs BC – look for Montreal to be
able to finish those drives on home turf. BC will not be able to answer with
journeyman Buck Pierce at the helm and his dismal record when starting. MONT
–4.5 is a lean
SUNDAY
Win @ SAS –3 / 50.5: The first of a back-to-back game that culminates in the
Banjo Bowl. Sask offense has not looked good lately thanks in large part to poor
QB play and a lack of receiving depth on the field. Long term the riders look to
have fixed the problem by acquiring Michael Bishop but short term that may not
yield results. Winnipeg has one of the lowest scoring offenses in the league, in
their last game HC Berry let re-promoted starter call all his own plays.
Although the strategy worked and the bombers got win it shows how much
confidence Berry had in his O-Coordinator. Not sure who wins this game but it is
the lowest total on the board for a reason. U50.5 looks very tempting.
MONDAY
ED @ CGY –5.5 / 57: Hefty total for the Labour Day classic in CGY. Both teams
are excellent at putting points on the board and have big play receivers. The
difference in this game is the CGY defense they have been able to stuff offenses
at key times in drives and has a results are ranked 2nd in the league. In the
CFL 5 is a key a number and seeing the spread at 5.5 has us thinking the odds
maker is hoping to attract some CGY money. Probably a good idea to take the
underdog in this rivalry, but go small and enjoy the fireworks.
TOR @ HAM –3 / 54.5: I have been wrong twice with Hamilton when playing Tor; I
am not interested in losing a third time. Could the up start Cats beat the Argos
a third time in one season. Well judging by the power ratings and Stats NO – but
judging by how Joseph and the rest of the team has played OTR yes. Toronto made
two key moves this week, they traded away disgruntled QB Mike Bishop and Cut
long time defensive Safety Orlando Steinhauer both moves should have the
attention of this team and perhaps some locker room harmony can catapult the
Argos to victory. I doubt it Hamilton –3 is a lean.
