SPORTS HANDICAPPERS WINNING STREAKS

May 2008

When looking to hire the services of a sports handicapping service, there are many things to consider. Specifically, handicappers winning streaks should be given quite a bit of weight in your decision making.

For example, let's assume you are looking for a sports handicapping service for the NBA playoffs. Certainly, you want to look at a handicappers overall record season to date in the NBA. However, the NBA playoffs are whole new season and need to be handicapped differently than the regular season. Success in the regular season does not automatically translate into success in the playoffs.

That is where handicappers winning streaks come in. Any worthwhile sports monitor should have a feature that allows the user to check current streaks. Here on the FSM, it's the BRANIAC

Let's take a look at a search using the Brainiac, going back 15 days, or, when the NBA playoffs started. You'll see Mikey Sports is 11-5 in the NBA playoffs. Mikey Sports is a very consistent service. They have done well over the years and had a very good college hoops season. They are a proven long term winner. However, they had a losing NBA season.

As you can see, simply because they had a rough regular NBA season, that shouldn't eliminate them from consideration for the "new" NBA season, the playoffs. They are right back on track and our enjoying a nice winning streak in the playoffs.

You can check current handicappers winning streaks in any of the sports we monitor and you can use several variables in your search including any time duration as well as sides, totals, top plays, etc.etc.

Sports handicappers, like baseball teams, are streaky. Jumping on the right service at the right time can produce great profits. Just as jumping on at the wrong time can drain profits. If a handicapper is hitting 70% in the NFL over his first 30 selections, that would probably not be a good time to start playing that handicappers plays. The law of averages dictates that he'll end up between 55-60% if he has a good year. That means, he has more losers than winners coming.

Likewise, if a service who is a long term winner and averages around 55% is 40% in the NFL, that same law of averages suggests that now might be the time to jump on board. He certainly won't hit 40% for the year. He may not win overall for the year, however, if you jump on his plays when he's at 40%, YOU have a good chance to profit with his plays from that point forward.

Remember, folks, think outside the box. There's more than one way to skin a cat. When it comes to sports handicapping, good isn't always good and bad isn't always bad.

Aside from the freesportsmonitor, another popular way to track several services is thru a football consensus report. Most good reports keep season to date records as well as hot streaks.
